There isn't an article at Alpha codes; the (bird) disambiguator isn't necessary. Would "Alpha codes" be the best title for the article (or would "banding codes"/"bird codes", both which redirect here be better). Plantdrew (talk) 22:12, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good question. Both the BBL and the IBP refer to them as alpha codes so I chose that, and then I decided to throw in "(birds)" because "Alpha codes" sounded so generic and also because none of the birders I know call them alpha codes. But I never really liked it. I'd love to be persuaded that "bird codes" is widely enough used for that to be legitimate. I don't like "banding codes" because technically only the BBL codes are banding codes, the IBP codes aren't. Thoughts? Dan Bloch (talk) 22:55, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
