Numbers as words[edit]

For consistency wherever a number is used as a number, irrespective of less than 10 or over, I think we should the symbol. In the whole article. But where a number is used as a countable, for exampl "eight page long English paper", it should still be spelled out. Edwininlondon (talk) 07:20, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Confusion[edit]

A) Without units (or explanation), it is hard to understand the meaning of statements like "0.77 greater than the mean". Is this a large effect size, or a small one made significant by sample size?

B) What is meant by "numbers is a name"? An example would be good here. Also, what is meant by "birthday number"? Month? Day? Year? Last two digits of the year?Mukogodo (talk) 15:20, 31 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Blass, Schmitt, Jones, and O'Connell, Bosson, Swann and Pennebaker, Koole, Dijksterhuis, and van Knippenberg etc etc... !?[edit]

While we must of course credit this who did the followup studies, these long strings of names directly in the text are, it seems to me, quite unnecessary. In every case the reference gives full details of the team; and so we can say that "other researchers tested for...", "another team tested..." and similar.

Thoughts? (before I jump in to alter) - Snori (talk) 18:56, 31 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Visuals[edit]

Would it be possible to add portrait photos of Dietz/others involved with the history of this effect? (It also seems a bit odd we don't include first name.) {{u|Sdkb}}talk 20:49, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
