Black Merda is of historical importance in the field of Black Psychedelic Rock

this article has been rewritten in an attempt comply with Wikipedia's standards and now contains a bibliography that details Black Merda's historical musical importance.

Black Merda had two albums released on the Chess and Janus Record labels" Their Self-titled "Black Merda" 1970 and "Long Burn The Fire" 1972 so this article shouldn't be deleted because it meets that notabilty rule.

This article also meets the complies with the rule below:

"topic has notability if it is known outside of a narrow interest group or constituency, or should be because of its particular importance or impact"

In addition to checking the bibliography of this article please Google "Black Merda" and you will find many websites featuring Black Merda's music and commenting on their historical musical importance.

Yes that's true but the only thing that really matter's is if what I'm saying is true or not and you can check that out by googling the name Black Merda as well as checking the secondary sources in the references for the article. Merda means "shit" in portuguese.

I find it amusing that people focus on what "Merda" means in other languages. I thought it was funny when I first found out it meant shit in these other languages as well.

But..the "Merda" in Black Merda didn't originate in Italian, Portuguese or any other language except American English. It's just the slang spelling of the word "Murder" and is pronouced "Murder" and means to kill. Black Merda means "the killing of black people" and originated during the civil right movement of the late 1960s to bring attention to the many African Americans who were being killed as result of racial violence at that time. I find the whole Portuguese/Italian thing to be dumb and irrelevant when it comes to the band. Earlier today I removed a reference to this meaningless translation that someone had put into the article, and will continue to do so. Doomsdayer520 (talk) 15:46, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MAJOR Revisions and Revamping of Article, 06/29/09[edit]

Today I did a major overhaul to this article. This was to tackle the various clean-up notices and for compliance with Wikipedia's standards for notability, neutrality, and style. I retained most of the previous material that had been added by VC and others, but rearragned it and interspersed it with a more neutral and encyclopedic history.

Most of the history that is now in the article is from the essay that came with The Folks from Mother's Mixer. Thanks VC for the great material that was here previously, but some of the Wikipedia patrons were right in that the old version of the article read more like a personal essay than an encyclopedia entry. So to prevent unnecessary attention from editors I revamped the article based on my fan knowledge and on published sources.

Thanks VC and Black Merda!!! I'm a fan and supporter.

Also, I am creating separate album pages for the two original albums plus the Folks compilation. We still need to do some work with internal citations, so I left the clean-up notice in the References section.

And for helping assure that more people will become aware of Black Merda's legacy and contribution to Funk, Rock, Black Rock, Psychedelic and music history in general. There are a couple of factual errors. I'll see if I can correct them without changing the neutrality of the entry. If not, I'll Ieave it they way it is. The Psych-funk of Black Merda[edit]

Hey is it true that the album recorded with Fuji back in the day, but never released, is what makes up the 2005 rarities item The Psych-funk of Black Merda? Thanks for checking with me. No, the Psych-Funk of Black Merda is not with Fugi

The album "Mary Don't Take Me On No Bad Trip" (as well as the single) is what was recorded back in the day with Fugi and the album was eventually released on Tuffcity Records Funky Delicacies label.

As a side note, there's a song on a new album were working on that I wrote around 1971 called "DoomsDay" goes along with your internet Id. take care Vveasey (talk) 14:18, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]


First All Black Rock Band[edit]

You are correct that a citation is needed, and I have added a notice to that effect in the article. However, your claims would also require citations. And it's more complicated than you imply with your rhetorical question. Your claims about Little Richard and Ike Turner create some uncertainty over the term "rock" as opposed to R&B, plus "band" which could be self-contained as opposed to the backers for an eponymous headliner.
