Image Help

[edit]

I have an image of Blake Griffin uploaded on Commons, at "Image:Blake Griffin cropped.jpg". It's slightly blurry, but is decent when scaled down. However, I'm having trouble with getting it to fit in the infobox in a reasonable size. Can any more image-savvy Wikipedians add it for me? Thanks! Introduction

[edit]

I made a minor change in the introduction which was misleading. After all, Blake Griffin, not his brother, is the number-one candidate for the 2009 NBA draft.Experience maker (talk) 21:16, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Same School-Top Player-Same Year

[edit]

UCLA was the first school to have top players (with major awards) in basketball (Lew Alcindor) and football (Heisman trophy to Gary Beban) in 1967. To say it was Griffin's Oklahoma is incorrect. - 24.176.201.122 (talk · contribs)

I'm not sure what would have been the top basketball award in 1967, when Beban won the Heisman, but Alcindor did win the USBWA award in the same year, so to be safe, I've removed the claim from the article. Zagalejo^^^ 18:03, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In 1967 it would have been Associated Press and United Press International "Player of the Year", of which Kareem was both. You could have found a source that shows both, forty years apart, and made a new paragraph to include both. > Best O Fortuna (talk) 20:02, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Height

[edit]

He was legitimately measured at 6'8 3/4" (2.05m)

Watch the 2:29 mark of this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruMrq-1FSIw&feature=related#t=2m28s

Maybe a note can be added to his listed height? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.110.28.125 (talk) 21:13, 6 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The key word is "listed": Griffin is listed at 6'10". It's known that measurements for players are done inconsistently, such as whether shoes are used or not in measurement.[1]. Regarding the video, we would not link to it in Wikipedia because this one is a copyright violation. If a reliable source is identified that disputes the listed height, we could add a footnote.—Bagumba (talk) 21:58, 6 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please add under Philanthropy 1. Team Griffin: In 2016, Blake and his brother, Taylor Griffin, decided to partner up with their Oklahoma AAU program and rebrand it as Team Griffin. Blake and Taylor will guide their youth basketball program, aiming to promote Team Griffin as a force of community good as they inspire athletes and coaches to use sports as a vehicle for social involvement in their Oklahoma community.[1]

2. Griffin is also active with the LA Dream Center hosting a Back to School Bash with LA Dodger Clayton Kershaw.[2]. ExcelSportsManagement (talk) 21:32, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Donald Sterling

[edit]

"After controversial remarks by Clippers owner Donald Sterling, NBA commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling from the league for life and forced him to sell the Clippers. Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer later bought the Clippers for $2 billion, the largest amount paid for a franchise in NBA history." Why is this in this article? This is not an article about the Clippers or Donald Sterling, it is an article about Blake Griffin. It is also irrelevant to the surrounding content and does not add anything meaningful to this particular article. I vote that this paragraph be deleted.
