"July 3rd 1878 we organized Company B, 2nd regiment Oregon state militia and we called it The Wild Horse Rangers with Robert E. Eastland as captain we were armed with state guns and our own horses and rations. We had no time for red tape at this time of the organization for our families and our sweethearts our deserted cabins and our prospects for a happy home were all at stake." (Bannock War)

- William M. BLAKELY (1840- ): m'd 1864 Margaret BAIRD; s/o James and Sarah (Dick) Blakely; winter of 1860 stayed with H.H. Spaulding; moved to Umatilla County where he was a wheat grower, Indian fighter, legislator 1893-1895 and sheriff in Pendleton 1898
- 3. WILLIAM M2 BLAKELY (JAMES1) was born Abt. 1840 in Missouri, and died 12 Jul 1931 in Umatilla, Oregon16. He married MARGARET BEARD Abt. 1864 in Linn, OR17. She was born 01 May 1849 in Lafayette, Tippecanoe Co, Indiana, and died 18 Nov 1944 in Umatilla, Oregon18.
