I've hidden the full email addy from any harvesters, though it's still visible in the source. Personally, I think "done in the style of" in the existing article is compatible with the above claim of "not a replica" — I just don't know whether the Indy Roadster bit is accurate / pertinent / what have you. — Lomn | Talk / RfC 21:47, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think I know what's going on here. We are talking about two different cars. The Blastolene Special was the original, looked somewhat like a stylized Duesenberg and was purchased by Jay Leno. Here are pictures of the car being built and here are some pictures of Jay Leno driving it.

The other car is the Blastolene Indy Special. It's quite similar but styled like a 1950 era Indy car. Here are some pictures of the Indy Special. The Indy Special is on display and for sale at Symbolic Motors in La Jolla, San Diego, CA. Rsduhamel (talk) 05:32, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Major tidy up[edit]

Did a big cleanup. Removed the stuff about the RPMs of the vehicle, it's quite low revving really (motorbikes can do 16 grand) : Gran turismo doesn't appear to have a high RPM from my searches on google: http://formula-1.updatesport.com/community/viewtopic.php?p=201984&sid=905023bb834e51fc6c5085377864cb7d says it redlines at 3,500 RPM. Not 35,000 RPM.

Tracked down some other articles, improved the accuracy of the information and the layout.. NathanLee 00:11, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The lowdown on the cars[edit]

I e-mailed one of the contacts at the Blastolene website and got the quick story on the cars. There are two cars. The Blastolene special (said to be styled after a Duesenberg) is the one owned by Jay Leno. The second car is the Blastolene Indy Special and is now on sale at Symbolic Motors. The wood shaping buck was removed after the aluminum was formed so the car is not partly made of wood. Rsduhamel (talk) 05:11, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Time for a Blastonlene article![edit]

There needs to be an article about the Blastolene company itself. They've created about eight different one-off unusual cars at this point.
