I have updated the site. Would you consider it neutral now? Imajimation 18:07, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

My problem with this page is that it doesn't show how the comic book is notable. Has it won any literary awards? Been reviewed by significant book or comic reviewers? Made any genre-specific bestseller lists? There's nothing in the article to show that this isn't just another comic book which is self-published for the author and his friends... if it's notable, there's nothing in the article to show it. -FisherQueen 18:13, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see...it has been an independent book for a while, about two years, and recently we've taken a turn toward bigger distribution. It has recently been picked up by Simon & Schuster, and will soon be distributed en masse around the country. If it isn't notable right now, I'm sure that it will be once people start seeing it on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble in February. It has been acclaimed by Stan Lee, but that's because we gave it to him and he came back to us saying good things about it. Not sure how to cite that, but trust me, I would put that on the site if I knew how to reference it. The comics are also being distributed in Germany, as well, while our line of toys is in Japan. Any suggestions? Imajimation 20:39, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There must be reliable published sources independent of the creator or publisher, such as books, magazines, and academic journals. Without these, it cannot be included on Wikipedia. Simply being included in the vast stocks of Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble is not enough. The article needs to be accurate beyond a doubt, and there is also typically a problem with that when there is a conflict of interest in someone affiliated with the subject writing the article. —Centrxtalk • 20:52, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The conflict of interest is understandable. I will do my best to make sure the info is dead accurate. The books have been featured in publications like Scratch (magazine), AllHipHop.com, as well as spots on CNN and Fox News. If you just search Google, there are plenty of reviews and features. My question is, do I have to stack all these references onto the article in order to give this page Notability? Maybe, the more I put in, the better? Also, if I have information that comes straight from the creators, how would I reference that? Imajimation 21:02, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Usually references are put at the bottom of an article. In-line citations are also useful. See Wikipedia:Citing sources. Statements from the creator, or any other information that is from the few primary sources that can be appropriate to building an article, must still be publically accessible by editors now and in the future. You may be able to convince me that the creators did indeed say something, but it is liable to be removed in a couple years if no one can verify it. —Centrxtalk • 21:11, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've put up a few references. There are more to come. Would you say that I am on the right track? Imajimation 00:16, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. I think you are. I've removed the prod tag for now, and you can try to continue on improving the page. I think it's a matter of verifying and cleanup instead of deleting. If the user insists on deleting, then I recommend this to be brought up to articles for deletion debate.

For the sources, please find a good source: Blog or the comic's website will not be accepted as a credible source.

Also, don't use {{helpme}} for non-user talk pages. Thanks! AQu01rius (User • Talk) 00:39, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How do I get the neutrality warning off of the site? I feel like I've put up only concrete information, except for the quote, which comes directly from publicly released promotional material. Do I need to put more references on the concrete information? Imajimation 18:12, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Representing qualities of our times, our culture and inner lives

[edit]

Creative works like BlokHedz that so well capture the qualities of these times, our culture and inner lives are well recognized by artists following this genre. Alvin Ailey http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alvin_Ailey Dance Theater http://alvinailey.org/ should use these designs that are aligned with the character of the Alvin Ailey performers for a staging next year. the zak 12:00, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Blak 02.jpg

[edit]

Image:Blak 02.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
