I didn't think I was doing anything wrong. I cited the sources, and I thought it was ok to copy and paste the stuff.

Citing sources is fine. However, when you cite sources, if it's a direct quote, you put the passage in quotes. Otherwise, you paraphrase. Just because cutting and pasting is easy doesn't make it legal in this case. Jasmol 02:58, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I want to re-write the article. Can I just re-write it? Or should I give up on writing about "Maya Bloodletting" Everytime I look on Wikipedia, it still says "Possible copyright violation".

If you edit the page to rewrite it, simply remove the "copyvio" tag. Jasmol 01:10, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. thanks.

Do not rewrite the article on the same page, please use a temp page like Maya Bloodletting/temp. Thanks. «»Who?¿?meta 07:58, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

New suggested move (renaming really)

[edit]

In order to encompass non-Maya bloodletting references in Olmec, Epi-Olmec, and Classic Veracruz cultures, I would like to rename this article as "Bloodletting rituals in Mesoamerican cultures". The focus of this article would remain primarily Maya.

The alternative would be to write a separate article on Mesoamerican bloodletting, but that seems redundant right now. Thoughts anyone, Madman (talk) 17:43, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I was BOLD and went ahead and moved the page and did some editing so that the scope encompasses all Mesoamerica. Needs more material. I shall try. Madman (talk) 00:53, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sure Madman, no probs and thanks. If any of the culture-specific sections grow to be too unwieldy, they can easily be split off to a new article. --cjllw ʘ TALK 03:12, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Preview Image Wrong

[edit]

The preview image, when hovering over a link on another wikipedia page, is not from this page (I think it's a photo of vomit? Maybe as a prank?). I had a quick poke around and couldn't see how to change it, maybe someone more knowledgable can. 169.235.64.143 (talk) 22:39, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
