International versions

I don't know if the list of the international versions is updated, but I do not think so. There is also a version in Greece named "Bob o Mastoras", broadcasting in Greek in weekend morning kid zones in various channels, such as Star Channel. miv

In India, Bob the Builder who is a pig is broadcast on Cartoon Network (India) in English. PacMan666

There is russian version -- I've seen few episodes on YouTube.

Picture

That's definitely not Bob the Builder. I am removing it.AmritTuladhar 01:47, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

It's my first time seeing this article, and I was wondering why there was no picture. Now I see why. Perhaps someone should add another picture? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by GavinTing (talkcontribs) 06:05, 21 April 2007 (UTC).

Assorted Miscellaneous

This is most bizarre. Let us hope it is temporary and the article can be unprotected soon, as there is no real dispute, just a lot of vandalism from what I see. I for one now am watching it, SqueakBox 16:22, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

Similar things (bogus characters etc.) were happening at the "Tweenies" and "Pablo the Little Red Fox" articles. I and others have updated these. Butterfingersbeck 17 January 2005

I noticed some obvious vandalism this morning. It's disappeared, so I think someone caught it. There was some Spanish and references to "Michael Jackson" and "Your Mom." David Uy 12:47, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Controversy?

I can't find a single reference for an episode titled "A Day In The Barn With Hitler." It looks like straight vandalism. Can someone take a look at this? 192.223.226.6 14:30, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

I was horrified to find that the original American voice of Bob, William (Bill) Dufris, wasn't mentioned! I've added him to the page. He should have his own bob the builder entry, I might have to rectify that.

Catalonia is not a Nation but an autonomous community

Albeit Catalonian is a distinct language, it is being referred as a nation which it is not

Same things with Wales, that is part of the U.K., I renamed the Wales section as United Kingdom (non-English languages) and merged the Catalonia section into the Spain section. Xvrbx (talk) 22:06, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Backhoe / JCB

Can we put in that Backhoes mean nothing to us in the UK - as it's a British show! We know them as JCBs! Please?

Well, if you actually worked in the construction industry in the UK, you'd know them as backhoe loaders. JCB also make excavators, telescopic handlers etc. while other companies e.g. Caterpillar also build backhoes (in Leicestershire). So it wouldn't be very helpful to change to JCB. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.143.65.241 (talk) 09:33, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

I think you'll find , but obviously correct me if I am wrong, that 3 year olds working on building sites has been outlawed in the UK for about 200 years, so most of the viewers and their mums would know them as JCBs. I am a 43 year old dad who has quite a few labourer friends, and has done a bit of labouring myself, and I have never come across the term, backhoe B4 BTB. 86.0.201.30 (talk) 13:41, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Would agree that the term "backhoe" probably means nothing to the majority of Brits; JCB or even just digger would be more appropriate considering the county of origin and intended audience. Juux (talk) 13:57, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Neil Morrissey vs Greg Proops

Since the show is originally British, shouldn't the original, British cast be listed in the sidebar, rather than merely be mentioned in an aside in the opening spiel?--Jayunderscorezero (talk) 02:15, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Aspect ratio change

Older BTB series were shot in 4:3 but at some point this changed to 16:9. The only thing I'm sure of is that the Project:Build It series all seem to be in 16:9. Does anyone know exactly when they changed over?Juux (talk) 13:53, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Kafka?!?!!?

Is BTB really based on a Kafka short story? I haven't been able to find a reference to this anywhere else on the net. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.182.87.35 (talk) 06:01, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

In Italia il programma è stato trasmesso da Rai 2 con il titolo Bob il costruttore all'interno del palinsesto pomeridiano dedicato ai più piccoli.

The page is protected due to high levels of vandalism. Only editors with an account and more than ten edits can edit this page. You've still got nine more to go. (And please, when you DO have enough edits to make it possible to modify this page, add your content in English--even if it's about the Italian version!) Thanks...GJC 07:37, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Dubious tag re Obama

re the current revision it says, "to which the other characters respond with "Yes we can!" (a phrase later borrowed by Barack Obama in his 2008 Presidential Election campaign" I think this is dubious to be the source, but instead is the translation of the spanish phrase "Sí, se puede". I will leave the tag up for a short period to allow time for someone to find evidence, because I guess it's possible, though highly unlikely, this had influence. Short time though, unless someone wants to delete it outright, which I might do pretty soon myself. Valley2city 19:41, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Yeah I agree it's dubious that BO borrowed the catch phrase from Bob but it can't be disputed that he used it after Bob the Builder's team. As for the "Sí, se puede" translation bit this is also dubious ... I definitely at no time heard BO saying "Yes it can be done" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.149.31.230 (talk) 10:02, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Possible disambiguation?

It appears that there was a book published using the title "Bob the Builder" a year before the introduction of the TV series, with numerous verifiable online and library sources. Does it warrant a disambiguation?

Bob de Bouwer (The Netherlands)

I have noticed that in the Bob the Builder article, there is sometimes written what Bob asks and what is friends answer (eg Spain). Can this be added to the Netherlands section? Bob always asks "Kunnen wij het maken?!", his friends answer "Nou en of!".--Born1977 (talk) 12:05, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Target audience

According to the article, The show is targeted at children ages 8th. What does this mean? Tonywalton Talk 23:48, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Possibly this was some subtle vandalism on 29 August 2011 by IP 108.27.74.225. I have been through the edits:

  • Added directors "Steven Feldman, Fred Holmes, Brian Mack" - I don't know how to easily check this
  • In the same line the Citation needed date was changed to "September 1997's" which does not make sense and has since been fixed
  • Under voices "Richard Briers" was changed to "Stephen White" and it is no longer clear who this is
  • In the same line the citation access date has been changed to 1992 which does not make sense
  • In "Single camera (1999–2004), Multi-camera (2004–present)" the first date was change to 1997 which does not make sense
  • "CBBC (1999–2002)" was changed to "CBBC (1996)"
  • First aired date was changed to "1992's" and has since been fixed
  • "ages 3 to 7" was changed to "ages 8th"
  • The dates of the BAFTA awards were changed and based on http://www.bafta.org/awards/childrens/nominations/ I would say the original "1999 to 2002" was accurate
  • A couple of dates where changed under DEFAULTSORT (I assume some kind of metadata)
  • Many references to the page in other languages were removed.

After that analysis I think it is pretty clear but the only realistic remedy is to use a wikipedia feature to automatically revert these edits if there is one, and maybe prevent edits from the same address. Jimwrightbe (talk) 18:56, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

Finale Date Discrepancy

In this article, the last episode of the series is said to have been on June 2, 2012. However, the episode list article says that the last episode was on June 10, 2012. One of these must be incorrect, and assuming that the episode list isn't very incorrect, I would lean toward guessing that June 10th is the real finale date. I haven't been able to find a source for this, though. Alphius (talk) 17:06, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Actually, the infobox says June 10th as well, but a point later in the article says June 2nd. I still think this needs to be changed (and actually, I had approved an edit that fixed this, but someone reverted it). Alphius (talk) 17:09, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
It might've been me. The article is subject to so many random edits by so many IP editors that when I see an unsourced & unexplained change to something specific, that would ordinarily have a source, I tend to just revert it. In this case it may be that the IP was simply conforming the text all around, in which case I was too hasty. I have no idea what the correct date is or was, and a source would be good for this sort of thing, but if June 10 seems to strike people as the better date I'm not going to revert it again! JohnInDC (talk) 17:29, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
Also, I apologize for reverting it over your acceptance. I sure don't remember doing that deliberately. JohnInDC (talk) 17:31, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
It's fine. I don't actually know what the date is supposed to be either - I just approved it because I saw that the episode list and the infobox both said June 10th, so I figured that made more sense than June 2nd. Alphius (talk) 00:42, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
I've changed it to the 10th so that it's the same everywhere, but it would be good if someone could find an actual source. I haven't been able to find a full episode list with airdates anywhere. Alphius (talk) 00:47, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
Is there even a souce that the show ended. As far as I can tell only the season is over. There will be more episodes tthis year. The only air about 10 episodes or so per season. Also They next batch won't air until later in 2013. The episodes tend to air in the UK first though.WP Editor 2012 (talk) 13:37, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

Image

I wonder if there's not a more suitable cast image we can pick than one of just Bob. I remember there being a decent-sized cast: Lofty, Wendy, Dizzy, Spud, Pilchard, Muck, and a good deal more. I can't remember - does the intro show them all at once? I find that non-promotional photographs of large segments of the cast can be quite helpful, such as the one I used in the List of Sonic the Hedgehog characters article, a screenshot from a game. Split discussion

I believe the 2015 show should be considered as a reboot, and not as a continuation of the original series (just like how the original Powerpuff Girls and its 2016 reboot are to each other). JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 08:27, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

Probably, but from what I recall, there are references to various elements of the previous series (including Fixham Harbour from Ready, Steady, Build!), even though it is a reboot. By this logic, Teletubbies (2015 TV series) also warrants a separate article. TheIsraeliSudrian (talk) 11:59, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
