Picture

I fixed and added some references and I feel that all sources that should be cited now are.Therefore I remove am removing the tag Tomj 01:10, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Format changes

Like most of the prose, did not like how everything was jumbled together. Seperated out media and season recaps, no deletions just rearranged what was there in a timeline. Finishes are facts, publicity/media/promotions tend to be loaded with opinions - I split them. Notice there are no comments upon Bode's impact upon the US Ski Team, which could be an opinion :) --Rcollman 14:58, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Birthplace/Hometown/Residence

Miller's Olympic profile states that he was born in Easton, NH, raised in Bretton Woods, NH, and resides in Franconia, NH, while here it says he was born in Franconia, raised in Easton and no mention of Bretton Woods. So what is it? 65.92.205.17 21:38, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Clarification Attempt: Bretton Woods is a ski resort that pays Bode Miller a fee to list "Bretton Woods" as his "official" home town. This is a popular practice among ski racers, golfers and other individual athletes.

To the best of my understanding, the Miller family's property lies in remote Easton, but Franconia is the nearest actual town. Children residing in Easton attend the Franconia school system. The nearest hospital is 10 miles away in Littleton, which is where Bode was probably born. --Pemmitt 01:06, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Pemmitt is about right. His family property is a couple of blinks over Franconia Town line in Easton, NH. Children residing in Easton, Sugar Hill and Franconia attend Lafayette Regional (K-6) School, located in Franconia. These 3 towns and Bethlehem send their 7-12 grade students to Profile High School. LOL Check it out

Gotta love Bode's new video. Features his new trainer, a look at his endorsements, and of course his personal chief chef. This is the Bode I know, taking an idea and seeing how far it go. True, it is on web site I stumbled into via Business Week Online (that Bode got there does not surprise me), so the autobots will nail the reference if I put it on the main page. Let's just say it has ski and space joined before a dot com.

Miller currently serves as Director of Skiing at Bretton Woods Mountain Resort in New Hampshire.

Most versatile racers

Changes

I deleted this part following from the "press, media..." chapter, because it really is not very accurate or interesting. hiking back up after missing a gate happens a lot in slalom. yes, it is an act of dedication, but happens at pretty much every slalom race. also, he was not relatively unknown, but had already won a number of races as well as two silver medals prior to the slalom.

furthermore: there was no reference for the whole point of the paragraph, which was that this helped his

Medal Table

Someone erroneously added his World Cup Titles to the medal table. I've tried deleting them twice but someone not familiar with the contents of the page has put them back. Please edit the World Championship Medal table to only include his World Championship Medals.

Early Career

Should there be some reference to Bode's junior racing career? I don't know the details, and don't know where to find them if not on Wikipedia, but I know that he won at least two titles at the Eastern Junior Olympics circa 1994. This was significant in that he was using the K2 four ski, which had not received much attention from the racing community until that point. I think this had an impact on both K2 as a company and ski racing, as it became obvious that parabolic skis were not just a fad. Also, K2 should be listed among his ski sponsor. They were his sponsor when he first entered the World Cup circuit, though I don't believe he ever won a race on K2. I think he might have won an individual run of slalom on them though. Inaccurate

Bode Miller never "admitt[ed] to skiing drunk on several occasions". He admitted to skiing with a hangover. Additionally, in the 2005 Borrnio downhill, he didn't manage to finish the race after losing a ski, though he did successfully run most of the course. But, though an interesting episode, how relevant is this for the article?--94.189.233.233 (talk) 13:52, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

McKay & Liko

     I found a single sentence about Liko Kenney (and his un-named victim Cpl. Bruce McKay), which BTW misdescribed the point where the involvement of Gregory Floyd (USMC, ret'd) began.
     There can be argument about whether Kenney should be mentioned at all, but if he's going to be, Miller's & Kenney's being more than third cousins once removed, and their similar links to McKay, need to be included: without those, the connection to Kenney is just trivia; if it's worthy of inclusion it's bcz the facts make people wonder if it's more than a coincidence that two cousins have been in the public eye. There's been plenty of public discussion about aspects that we were neglecting. And there will be more, now that Kenney's father is suing to shift blame to everyone living more responsibly his brat did: in fact, you can probably expect at least one defendant to grill the father about whether grief has since unbalanced his own judgment, or if, instead, he brought the kid up all along believing he had the right to decide which cops he had to answer to, and to empty a pistol in response to lawful and non-lethal force. (Even if Miller is not called to testify on whether he affected Kenney's state of mind.)
     Argue for no mention of Kenney, or for fleshing it out, but we can't reasonably hang in the middle.

     A source i had run down for the sake of the "antagonize McKay" quote (re which, BTW, it is unclear whether the supposed direct quote from the courtroom is based on the court records or on Miller's presumably oral recapitulation to the interviewer) is a fine example of what i under-described above as "people wonder[ing] if it's more than a coincidence ....": the SI journalist Tim Layden, in Bode's bumpy trail: Split from U.S. team, deadly incident strangely bound, says at the bottom of the 1st pg "I didn't wonder for a moment. I saw the two stories -- Miller's departure and Liko Kenney's death -- as inextricably bound together."

Super-G at the FIS Alpine Skiing World Championships 2015

Dear Sir, nobody could say if Bode had could win the gold medal - but I would like to express that he was on a good way to claim a medal. To catch or to straddle a gate is a "part of the game". There were very small differences in the clocking - final list of result says: Bode was the best at the second split time (40.32 sec.; gold medalist Hannes Reichelt 40.60 sec.). His third split time was the 5th of all racers (56.15 sec.; Reichelt was first: 55.95 sec.) - but it is to concede that Bode did catch the gate, and his speed was reduced, before that split time was clocked (maybe, catching the gate did happen 0.15 seconds or a little bit more before clocking the split time?).
