Text and/or other creative content from Bofors 40 mm Automatic Gun L/60 was copied or moved into Bofors 40 mm Automatic Gun L/70 on January 2022. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists.

Need a help[edit]

Dear John B123 and Primefac, here is another example for copy-paste of Wikipedia content from one page to other page. Can you guys just help in with the review/next step? A practical approach would help me to understand the process and it will also help me to replicate it with other pages (which had been found a couple of days ago). -Hatchens (talk) 06:17, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Hatchens: Bofors 40 mm Automatic Gun L/60 and Bofors 40 mm Automatic Gun L/70 were originally contained in one article Bofors 40 mm gun. Part of the article was WP:SPLIT off to Bofors 40 mm Automatic Gun L/70 and the remainder moved to Bofors 40 mm Automatic Gun L/60. Blockhaj proposed this split in September 2018 now at Talk:Bofors 40 mm Automatic Gun L/60#Split article into the Bofors 40 mm L/60 and Bofors 40 mm L/70?. This discussion fizzled out but generally was supportive. Blockhaj has now boldly made the split. I don't see anything wrong so far, however the the requirements of WP:SPLIT to give attribution haven't been complied with. I'll add the required attribution (which is now more complicated as the original page has been moved and the original title made a dab page). --John B123 (talk) 11:33, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've now added attribution to Bofors 40 mm Automatic Gun L/70 [1] and {{copied}} to the top of this talk page. Normally you would add {{copied}} to the talk page of the source article, but as this has now been moved this could probably be more confusing than informative. Additionally I have also added Wikiprojects to this page and {{Uw-copying}} to Blockhaj's talk page. Was it {{copied}} or a {{split article}}? It's probably a minor semantic point but if the content is no longer in the original article then the "split" variant would likely be more appropriate. Primefac (talk) 12:42, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
