"Bold Venture" the (fictional) boat

[edit]

The boat depicted in this article (Boldventure.jpg) is almost certainly Bogart's private sailboat "Santana." http://www.thesantana.com/history/bogartBacall.html

It is definitely NOT the boat referred to in the radio series, which is described as a "power cruiser" in episode 51082022 "Ghost Ship" at 6:34 into the performance. In episode 51100829 "Slate Gets the Hook" (15:48) the boat is described as a "twin engine" craft of about 45 feet in length. In episode 51121038 "Bring Me the Body of Slate Shannon" (5:28) Slate himself describes the boat as a "power boat." And all this is further confirmed by the only web source I've been able to find, which describes the Bold Venture "...as depicted in promotional copy from Frederick W. Ziv, appears to have been a recreational trawler, or a small, fast, converted sport fisher of the day." http://www.digitaldeliftp.com/DigitalDeliToo/dd2jb-Bold-Venture.html

Also, I've found nothing to indicate that Ziv built or renamed an actual boat for the series.

So while a photo of Bogart and Bacall aboard the Santana might be of interest to fans, it seems unrelated to the radio show. Arcanicus (talk) 07:11, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
