A less clever acronym

[edit]

Around 1985 I saw a letter to the editor in the Nairobi Daily Nation claiming that 'boma' stood for 'British Our Mother in Africa'. Quite astounding! Rexparry sydney 04:54, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In fiction

[edit]

In Mike Resnick's ?1989 short story Kirinyaga, Boma is used to denote a special type of hut apparently used as traditional housing facility by Kikuyu people. Does anybody know more about that? Currently the article looks rather stubbish to me, in this respect - after all there are still people around on this planet using bomas as housing, I guess...? --Klingon83 (talk) 23:37, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
