Thorns

[edit]

A very distinctive feature of this tree that is not mentioned in the article is that the trunk is covered by thorns. In Thailand it is called งิ้ว Ngio and it is believed that people who cheat on their spouses are reborn in a place where they continually climb up and down this tree in pursuit of new lovers, and in the process shred their genitalia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.113.17.155 (talk) 14:15, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds very interesting, but we would need a source for that. Also, do you know if "Ngio" refers to a specific species of Bombax or to the group of trees in general? I would assume that the word refers to Bombax ceiba, as I believe that is the only species that occurs in Thailand, but I could be wrong. If that is the case, than the information would be more appropriate at that article and not necessarily this one. DJLayton4 (talk) 18:05, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
