Open questions

[edit]
  1. What is needed to create a boomtube (e.g. a mother box)?
  2. Could a boom tube used for teleporting shorter distances (such as on the same planet)?
  3. what are the limits on how long a boom tube can remain open?
As far as I know, a motherbox is the only thing that can create a boom tube. Can anyone else find any other instance of one being created otherwise? --Rocketgoat 02:32, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, good question. I'll have to chime in saying that I don't recall ever seeing a boomtube without a motherbox, whether one appeared on-panel, or was implied as being used at the other end of the tube. Anyway, related, but perhaps not the same were the boomsuits used by the JLA 1 Million --El benito 22:38, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Scaling

[edit]

Peter David did not create the idea that a BT rescales the giant New Gods down to human size. The idea originated in New Gods #10 (1996), by Pollack, Raffaele, and Garvey, where a rip in the cosmos briefly brings planets from the regular world into the world of the New Gods, and they are mere inches across. Peter David went along with this idea when Supergirl ends up on Apokolips only partly grown in stature, and is thus around an inch tall. Devillance being merely four-or-five times human height in 52 is thus a further extension of the idea, with the BT obviously having reduced him nearly all the way to human height, but not quite.

Similarity

[edit]

I think it should be mentioned that it's similar to wormholes. 71.250.1.198 02:37, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
