Ivanov is currently playing in the Navalmoral de la Mata Open 2013 and has already beaten the #2 player, GM Grigoryan of Armenia.Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). http://chess-results.com/tnr118189.aspx?lan=1&art=9&fed=BUL&flag=30&wi=821&snr=23 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.150.174.169 (talk) 01:11, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Official statement on Spanish tournament

[edit]

Some of the reporting on this issue has not been great and as this is a BLP the following is useful. http://www.ajedrezsantaisabel.com/Notaprensaivanov.pdf and translation. Regards, Sun Creator(talk) 08:50, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I based what I wrote on that statement (or at least, on its English translation which was also published on chessbase). Did I contradict it somewhere? BLP and all, this is reliably sourced information. The unfortunate fact is that Ivanov is primarily known for being a suspected computer cheat. He wouldn't have a wikipedia article otherwise. "Retirement" and "Return"

[edit]

It looks silly to have a section titled "Retirement from Chess" and then immediately "Return to Chess"--especially considering the "return" was just three weeks after the retirement, and didn't last.

I think it's okay to mention the announcement of the "retirement"; and the section describing Ivanov's quick reversal of this decision contains relevant information as well; but to create TWO discrete titled sections for these events isn't necessary at all.

Maybe lump them together in one section titled "Retirement and Return"--or better still, don't even bother with the "return" part, since Ivanov's chess career ended shortly thereafter.Chillowack (talk) 09:14, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, excellent suggestions! I decided to confine Borislav Ivanov's "retirement" and his short-lived return to professional chess to just one section (so that there is no need for information to be relocated or deleted).Oleg Morgan (talk) 09:50, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
