Former Quartiers

[edit]

Something's wrong with the list of former quartiers. For one thing it says Quebec City was redivided into arrondissments at the time of the mergers, but two of the quartiers listed where not part of Quebec City until the mergers. Secondly, it says there were 16 quartiers but only 14 are listed. Can anyone clear this up? - Farquard 18:14, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think most quartiers were not actually redistributed, but it is a fact that the arrondissements, are divided into quartier, but most of the new ones are not yet named. The two missing ones are, I think Vieux-Québec—Basse-Ville and Vieux—Québec–Haute-Ville. Circeus 19:25, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
Okay, but how could Cap-Rouge and L'Ancienne-Lorette have been quartiers of Quebec City before 2002 if they only became part of Quebec City in 2002? - Farquard 19:48, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Oups, my bad, They are currently named quartiers, but were previously not. It's difficult to do this kind of work in Quebec (unlike in Montreal), due to the administration's desire to erase as must traces from the former cities as possible. Circeus 20:09, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
So were there two more quartiers that aren't on the list or were there only 14? Farquard 21:41, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Frankly, I have no idea. Circeus 21:43, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

"Borough"

[edit]

What is the rationale for translating arrondissement to "borough" when we speak of Quebec but keeping it when we are talking about Paris? Personally I would leave "arrondissement" alone. Funnyhat (talk) 02:55, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
