PROD[edit]

Why:

  • The two references are not reliable.
  • The coordinantes are for the airstrip, not the property, probably close but not the same thing
  • Urella is totally unrelated.
  • Taylor family is not mentioned in either reference.
  • Neither reference states it is a cattle station (even if it probably is).
  • Pindera Downs Aboriginal Area is not mentioned in either reference.
  • There is a small but definite amount of WP:NEXIST that confirms WP:EXISTS but nothing to indicate notablity that I can see.

At best WP:TNT. Aoziwe (talk) 11:53, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment What are the criteria for whether a station has a separate article? Do they come under the WP:GEOLAND, "Populated, legally recognized places are typically presumed to be notable, even if their population is very low."? There seem to be plenty on the List of stations in Australia which simply have information about their location, history, owners, prices on sale, number of cattle, etc. The Category: Pastoral leases in New South Wales includes other, very similar articles. There are plenty of results for Borrona Downs in Trove, including some which show that the Taylor family owned both Borrona Downs and Urella Downs. Some could be added to this article to provide reliable references and more information. I haven't checked for the coordinates for the station, but a station airstrip is usually sited within the station, so those coordinates would be for a location within the area of the station. Other articles on stations don't give coordinates (bit hard to do when many are large and have irregular boundaries), but give distance from nearby towns, which this sort of does. It could certainly be cleaned up, but seems no less notable than other stations. RebeccaGreen (talk) 17:56, 16 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure why any station is inherently notable. Why are not all farms or rural properties notable. Just because they are huge in area does not make them special, that is the norm for much of Australia. I am not really fussed if it stays but at the very least this one is currently so bad it needs WP:TNTing. There are many references to many properties in trove, for example, the two properties one of my grandfathers owned at different times, but I do not think either of them are notable. Given that they are included in Geography categories, I think that stations probably do come under the WP:GEOLAND presumption of notability - and if that is going to be tested, I suggest doing so with a better article. I don't see the need to WP:TNT - it's not as if it's a huge article, and it could easily be expanded and improved. RebeccaGreen (talk) 11:25, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Please feel free to DePROD it if you wish. I will not be taking it to AfD. Aoziwe (talk) 11:52, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Never seen such a dumb statement regarding coordinates before. The only people wanting exact coordinates for an outback rural property in Australia are pilots (hence the airstrip). The only other coordinates that would make sense is for the homestead, but the property itself is not a point on the map - it’s an area (well over 100,000 acres in this case). Station airstrips are always near the homestead, otherwise you are in for a very long walk if you land there. They also get registered for the RFDS. BTW Borrona Downs is a sheep & cattle station. 144.139.103.173 (talk) 13:38, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've worked on the station and I know greg taylor, he is the current owner. The homestead is 2 kilometres away from the air strip. The Urella down is a part of the station since he bought it, urella downs homestead no longer exists its shearing shed was used to extend the borrona downs shed, the current homestead is in a state of disrepair due to a tornado I believe greg said. House roof was ripped off, then followed the rain. It is rather sad, it would have once had a beautiful garden as fruit trees were abundant. Sheep and cattle station, mainly sheep. Greg has a passion for rodeo, bucking horse riding and training cutting horses. I am glad articles exist for stations amd I think if you worked on one you'd realise no two are the same. The struggle that the family's went through to put something like that out in the outback over a hundred years ago just mind boggling. 203.0.3.2 (talk) 08:32, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
