It says/said somewhere on his site, I think, it's Borys Jes-nes-key. 64.231.118.85 02:26, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hezbollah question

[edit]

He's in the news as the dumbass who will probably ruin the Liberals chance at re-election. He clearly stated that Hezbollah is not a terrorist organization, a determination that was made by the previous Liberal administration. (http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news/story.html?id=434d7281-4a35-4e4f-bad4-c4a26616fff2&k=73927&p=2)

Read your own link, the quote is "Hezbollah has a political wing. They have members of Parliament. They have two cabinet ministers. You want to encourage politicians in this military organization so that the centre of gravity shifts to them,". And the next day he clarified saying he believes Hezbollah is a terrorist organization and should remain on the list. So now everyone is jumping down his throat because he says he should talk with them. How un-canadian is that. </sarcasm> U236 18:56, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Visit to Poland controversy

[edit]

This is an event from a pretty uneventful biography of Mr Wrzesnewskyj and as I've stated in my previous comments, a good percentage of google hits about Mr Wrzesnewskyj would actually return references to this controversy. I believe that an attempt to remove references to it is a deliberate step to hide the truth about real and well-documented event under a pretext of it being "trumped up". I suggest to leave it to wikipedia's reader to make the judgment. I would also suggest to stop politicizing the subject and stick to the facts which are what they are. I would gladly agree to discuss the phrasing, however I disagree to remove references to the event, due to its notability. FYI: any consequent attempt to completely remove all the references to this event will automatically trigger a referral to external resolution. Ilvar (talk) 06:48, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It was a one-day controversy with no lasting ramifications. Reading through the CanWest filter, it's obvious that BW intended to criticize Kenney for making a trip to Poland instead of dealing with a national issue, and that he was not aware of the nature of the trip before making his comments. Even CanWest hasn't gone out of its way to trumpet this non-scandal, perhaps recognizing that there isn't much to work with here. We certainly aren't obligated to inflate the matter.
I'll also note that the previous wording was probably a BLP violation. CJCurrie (talk) 18:44, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing

[edit]

Just a reminder to everyone, because I see that this article has set a whole new standard in the use of YouTube links as "sources": all content on Wikipedia has to be sourced to reliable sources — meaning newspapers, magazines, other news websites, books, etc. YouTube videos are not acceptable sources — any video that actually passes our rules around primary sources is likely to fail our rules around linking to copyright-violating reposts of copyrighted material.
