Based on the wikipedia article fro Bosseopentaenoic acid and the reference supporting it -as well as http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.tetlet.2010.12.078. The stereochemistry (or rather geometry) of the double bonds is: (5Z,8Z,10E,12E,14Z), whereas this image depicts (5Z,8Z,10E,12E,14E). --The chemistds (talk) 23:20, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for catching the discrepancy. Chemical Abstracts has bosseopentaenoic acid listed as CAS#133205-91-1 and the name/structure (5Z,8E,10Z,12Z,14E)-5,8,10,12,14-eicosapentaenoic acid. This seems to be inconsistent with the primary sources that you list (which CAS has presumably abstracted from). I'm not sure where I got the (5Z,8Z,10E,12E,14E) geometry for the image I created. In any case, I have updated the image and article to be consistent with the primary literature instead of the apparently erroneous CAS listing. I don't have access to ChemAbs to check against that database. The primary literature can be just as decisive - as authors can mistakenly submit an incorrect structure - or even revise the structure based on further analysis.
