[edit]

There's a lot of unreferenced additions here from an i.p. 134.45... I knocked off one which looked suspicious (i.e., the statue of George III wearing a toga). There aren't a lot of warnings on the i.p. so they may legitimate but I would feel more comfortable if they had references and were from a signed user. 1.Is the article neutral? Are there any claims, or frames, that appear heavily biased toward a particular position?

I haven't noticed anything biased about this article, the editors are just talking about the history, location, and present time of Bowling Green. For example, the editors spoke about the statue, the Charging Bull, in bowling green, where it came from and what is supposed to represent.

2. Check a few citations. Do the links work? Is there any close paraphrasing or plagiarism in the article? The first citation I checked was from the New York City website, and it is actually "outdated" giving no information about Bowling Green at all. Another citation was from Wikipedia therefore I am skeptical about the information given. The citations that I am more confident on is the books used and magazines used. The information is paraphrased well, so I did not catch any plagiarism in this article. Heathercutajar (talk) 04:05, 16 October 2016 (UTC)Heather Cutajar[reply]

Bowling Green is now Co-Named 'Evacuation Day Plaza'

[edit]

Article update required and possible new wiki: Evacuation Day Plaza (New York City).... A U.S. holiday once celebrated with more fanfare than the Fourth of July is getting the modern day recognition in lower Manhattan where George Washington triumphantly marched through Lower Manhattan to the Bowling Green on Nov. 25, 1783, after a U.S. soldier managed to rip down the British flag at Bowling Green and replace it with the Stars and Stripes — an apparently tough feat since the British had greased the flag pole. [1] New York Council initially Resisted the Renaming Effort to Honor Evacuation Day as reported in the New York Times. The British departure, after seven dismal years of occupation, was celebrated with mayoral sanction for the last time in 1916. [2] Evacuation Day Plaza is now Honored with New Illuminated Street Sign. This is speculation, and unsupported: "Bowling Green was a significant cultural site before European colonization." 100.37.150.126 (talk) 12:12, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
