Rose, Shamrock & Thistle[edit]

This 1861 article says that the the former coaching station in Bogolong Street was named the ROSE, Shamrock & Thistle.

We then started for Yass, which we reached at noon. This being my first visit, I was much struck with the appearance of Yass. It was well and regularly built, and presents a very pleasing appearance. We reached Bowning, a small township, at sunset, and stopped at the Rose, Shamrock, and Thistle--a most comfortable hotel. The next day, passed Binalong and Murrumburrah...

Trooper's Cottage on the Binalong Road?[edit]

Can someone provide an exact location for this cottage?

We were in Bowning in July 2012, doing a tad of historical research. We asked at the pub. Reply: "I been livin' here seventeen years, never even heard of no Trooper's Cottage."

Is this it?
