Name change or new town?[edit]

"The town was originally named Wellstead, but the local petition in 1951 was in favour of the current name. The change of name was approved and the new name gazetted in 1962." (Coordinates 34.394°S 119.376°E)

Compare this with words from the Wellstead article (Coordinates 34°30′00″S 118°36′00″E): "Farmland was opened up in the area in the 1960s for cereal cropping and land was set aside for a town site. The town site was gazetted in 1965 shortly after establishing a telephone exchange."

So the coordinates establish that these are two different towns gazetted separately in the 1960s, and it's thus OK to have two different articles. However, Bremer Bay was originally included in the town of Wellstead (not "originally named Wellstead"). Bjenks (talk) 01:29, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Apols for inadvertent bad link in article edit summary. Bjenks (talk) 01:55, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
