Revised text[edit]

I left a message on your own talk page yesterday - Can we agree a text incorporating much of both of our versions? I can prepare a draft and maybe we can see if we both agree. My issue with your text is the over emphasis on the cheese issue, I think your 5 citations on this is a bit excessive. Artanis2001 (talk) 19:44, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, you have already stated you are a friend of Brendan Smith, so you are violating WP:COI. Secondly, its not my text on the cheese issue, it was added by another editor, I trimmed it in size and it originally had 10 references. You also removed the referenced section about GMO crops. Your edits are a clear violation of WP:NPOV policy. Snappy (talk) 11:39, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I had removed some of the GMO refs in my first edit, but subsequently restored them when you re-edited the piece and I realised how much I had removed. At the risk of being pedantic I didn't say I am a friend of Smith's as you claim: I said know him, but not in terms of friendship. This was intended to convey that I am familiar with his political career, esp his time as a Minister. Regarding my other edits I referenced the material I added relating to the Harvest 2020 program and the RedC rating, so I don't see how you could object to these and see them as a violation of Wiki policy. Does this clarify the situation for you and are you amenable to agreeing some changes? Artanis2001 (talk) 14:48, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Made a minor edit tonight - just the inclusion of a reference to Brian Lenihan Jr as previous Min of State for Children. Also changed "received the position of" to "was appointed as" Artanis2001 (talk) 21:16, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I added a revised reference to the 2020 Food harvest strategy including link to the document Artanis2001 (talk) 16:12, 13 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That is problematic, the reference is a Department of Agriculture is a memo/press release when he was the minister, so he would have written it/signed off on it. References have to be reliable, neutral and third party, see WP:RS. Also, I have toned down the cheese bit, removing "the most notable moment". Snappy (talk) 16:49, 13 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fair point regarding the Dept Agriculture release - I am almost sure that I have a link to a farmer's journal piece from the time. I will dig that out later tonight and insert in its place. Thanks for the change you made "notable moment" line. I will log back in a few hours and edit the citations Artanis2001 (talk) 17:21, 13 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Farmers Journal piece is behind a paywall - so using a citation and line from Irish Independent in its place Artanis2001 (talk) 22:51, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
