BATTLE OF BRENTA (899).[edit]

On September 24, 899 about 5,000 Hungarians defeated the 15,000 Italians led by their king Berengario I. At the beginning the Italians rejected the Hungarian attack and believed the battle was won. Later, an Hungarian counter-attack turned the tide of the battle: the surprise attack and the quarrels among the Italian generals led to the full Hungarian victory.
