Michelin?

[edit]

Why does Michelin's involvement re USGP 05 in Formula1 belong on the Bridgestone page? Seems like blatant self promotion to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.22.104.18 (talkcontribs)

Lead

[edit]

"It is currently the largest tire manufacturer in the world, and is Japan's largest tire manufacturer." Am I reading this wrong or does it not make sense to state that it's Japan's largest tire manufcaturer if it is also the world's largest? Alexj2002 16:51, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not really, Japan makes different brands of tyres and Bridgestone is the largest of them. Tyres are also made around the world and Bridgestone is the worlds largest. Two different statements. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.49.235.50 (talkcontribs)

Largest tire recall in history? Ford fiasco?

[edit]

I don't see this big news story of a few years ago mentioned in the article. Shouldn't there be some reporting and analysis of the tire failures, the fingerpointing, and the cost to both companies? --CliffC 02:14, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This topic is well covered in its own article as well as in the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.49.235.50 (talkcontribs)

Can any long term editors to this page, e-mail me or message me who they may think User:Mobile 01 actually is? User:Mobile 01 and some of his anon accounts, also edits articles about Smallville, particularly Smallville (season 6), It is certain thatUser:Mobile 01 is from Australia as per his anon accounts, who possibly works as an IP admin.

203.49.235.50 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log), who wrote above, is a probable sockpuppet of User:Mobile 01.

This user has attempted for months, possible years, to downplay the negative press of firestone, bridgestone, using sockpuppets, anons, etc. This page should be merged with Firestone, since they are now the same company.

Best wishes, Travb (talk) 10:11, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see any problem with merging the two. Although I certainly can't be bothered to do it and heaven help anyone who messes with my European section of the Bridgestone page, lol. Cls14 13:17, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
User:Cls14 I have run into you a lot in looking at my edits of the sockpuppers and anons of User:Mobile 01
I don't care about your "European section of the Bridgestone page" so you don't have to worry one bit. I know what it feels like to take pride in your additions to wikipedia. Best wishes, Travb (talk) 23:42, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually it's user Travb that is the vandal on these pages, a user who constantly includes biased information from the StopFirestone.Com website and states that it is referenced material. I am neither Pro nor Negative Bridgestone/Firestone unlike Travb who appears to be definately anti firestone. I have tried to enforce NPOV on the firestone article and myself along with other editors have constantly told Travb to refrain from POV statements about this company. I have done a lot of work on this Bridgestone Article and I think you would agree that it is much more informative than before. User Cls14 has added some great European stuff which I have thanked them for on their talk page. I have concerns about merging the two articles, basically because the firestone article focuses purely on the USA history of Firestone. This article is purely about Bridgestone and already references and links out to the firestone Article. The history section of the firestone article is irrelevent to the bridgestone article. I guess we could merge the two by just deleting the firestone article all together and expanding the USA section in this page. I am reluctant to agree though as I am sure that user Travb would just try and include all the negative Firestone USA things into this page even though the majority happened before Bridgestone Bought the company and before Bridgestone Japan actually took an active control of running the North American operation. What does everyone else think? Mobile 01 07:03, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I find this conversations very telling: Wikipedia:Suspected_sock_puppets/Mobile_01#Factual_inconsistencies_of_User:Mobile_01_and_her_intentions_on_wikipedia, all of the other violations of wikirules are listed below. Travb (talk) 01:33, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
