i dont see any specific reference to any US brigade general at all. anybody terribly mind if i remove the catagories 'Military ranks of the United States Army | Military ranks of the United States Air Force | United States Marine Corps ranks'? -Lordraydens 10:44, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yeah, no such thing in either us army or air force. i removed it. Clown 04:08, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

During its entire 11-year existence, no single reference has been provided to show that brigade general is 'a modern alternative to a previous older rank of brigadier or brigadier general'. I don't think there is a difference between the two.

  • In fact, 'brigade general' doesn't even have an entry in the Oxford English Dictionary, whereas brigadier general does. Maybe it's just someone's inept translation from another language to English.
  • To further prove this is just the same thing, look at the interwikis. Wikidata linked 43 other language projects to the English entry 'brigadier general', who all either say something like 'brigadegeneral' or 'brigadir general'. However, this 'brigade general' article still hasn't got a Wikidata page. Its 12 interwikis are still manually linked to other language entries, all of which overlap with the 43 linked to 'brigadier general' through Wikidata. This is strong evidence of duplication that hasn't been removed yet.
  • And on French Wikipedia, it says 'Général de brigade, brigadier-général ou brigadier' are all just synonyms.
  • Finally, if both articles claim Charles de Gaulle as a brigadier general and brigade general, you know you're talking about the same rank.

So unless someone can provide evidence they're really really actually different, this article should be merged into brigadier general. (I doubt there will be much that isn't already in the latter). Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 23:00, 3 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I entirely agree. These articles on slightly different national variations of what is essentially the same rank should be merged. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:58, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
