British Columbia Wolf and the Coastal Wolves

[edit]

The article can be summarized as "Canis lupus columbianus and its neighbors are derived from ancient wolves. Also all those neighbors are the same subspecies even though they're not currently described as such". I need more information on the wolf itself. While the page discusses useful genetic information of Canis lupus Columbianus, the wiki page feels as if its being used to described the hypothetical subspecies of "Coastal wolves" as mentioned on Subspecies of Canis lupus. It merges Columbianus' range with Alexander Archipelago and Vancouver island, which belong to the other subspecies. I don't actually know where the population currently described as Columbianus lives. Is it on the coast of British Columbia? I checked out the area on Google Maps satellite and there appears to be many islands fitting close-together all along a mountain range that would constitute as its coast. Does Columbianus live on these many islands next to the mountain range? Or do they live on the mountain range itself that's on the mainland? If on mainland, how far north, south, and east does that go?

The one thing I get that describes Columbianus also describes that other subspecies. " Wolves that prey on fish and small deer in wet, coastal environments tend to be smaller than other wolves.[7]" Is that the only information that can be given? I would be willing to move most of the information to a new Coastal Wolf page for this debated subspecies (that hasn't yet been given a scientific name) except for the fact that if I did, that sentence is pretty much the only thing that would remain on this page. And it still doesn't describe the peculiarities that make Columbianus different from the others.

Also, the distribution image given portrays that its neighboring inland wolf subspecies are the Great Lakes Coywolves. It's inland neighbor would most likely be Occidentalis, the Northwestern Wolf.Wacape (talk) 09:07, 29 September 2020 (UTC) EDIT: Did it anyways. Wacape (talk) 10:25, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
