Title

Who came up with name? Wasn't it known as the pet cull?

Massacre is Better Description than "Holocaust"

Calling it a "holocaust", as in the original title is incorrect. As Hilda Klein says in the "Great Dog and Cat massacre" (which, note, she calls a massacre in the title), only contemporaries of the event (prior to the WWII Holocaust) referred to it as such. The word "holocaust" has a very different connotation nowadays.Furthermore, this does not seem to be a common name for it in general.
