Strong British connection?

Is this a British film about a British criminal with a Briton in the leading role and set in Britain?

MOS:TIES seems to indicate that an article on a topic that has strong ties to a particular English-speaking nation should use the (formal, not colloquial) English of that nation, doesn't it?

The first non-stub version was not written in US English was it, so why the change to US English?
