Suggested Changes from Westfield[edit]

Hello. My name is Erik Even, and I am a Web Producer for Westfield Corporation. We're concerned that many of the Wikipedia pages for Westfield centers have incorrect or outdated information, and even content that is not NPOV.

I have read the rules for Conflict of Interest, and I will not be attempting to make any page edits. I will simply be going into talk pages, and suggesting edits, which the community may then either act on or not. I genuinely appreciate any help you can give.

Our suggested text is below, which is meant to be two paragraphs.

Westfield Broward, formerly known as Broward Mall, is a one-level, 1,000,000-square-foot (93,000 m2) shopping mall in Plantation, Florida, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale. It is managed and co-owned by the Westfield Corporation. The center features 125 retail and service shops, and a variety of casual dining venues. Its anchor stores are Sears, Macy’s, Dillards, and JCPenney. It features a 12-screen movie theater.

The mall was owned and managed by the Mills Corporation, also owner of the nearby Sawgrass Mills mall, from 2003 until Simon Property Group acquired The Mills in 2007. Simon operated the mall for Summer 2007, and in November 2007, Westfield officially acquired the mall and renamed it "Westfield Broward." It is the sixth(*) Westfield mall in Florida, and the only one in South Florida. Westfield once owned the nearby Westland Mall, but divested it in 2012.

As with Westfield_Brandon, I don't think it is necessary to mention the anchor stores twice in the article. However, feel free to update the introduction to state that the cinema has been constructed and the renovation has been completed. Altamel (talk) 02:22, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

History==

In a similar fashion to Town Center Mall which opened two years later, construction started with local department store Burdines on the south end followed by both Jordan Marsh and Sears at the north end. An expansion wing with JCPenney in between Burdines and the food court was also added in 1980. Jordan Marsh was husbanded in 1991 and Mervyns opened in 1992 following an $80 million bid for JCPenney to take over the store at Altamonte Mall and Mervyns to take over seven stores, including the Broward and Town Center stores. At the time, the mall had the same anchor lineup as the newly opened Pembroke Lakes Mall and five other malls in South Florida with this setup almost likened to that of Town Center with the exception of JCPenney. Mervyns sold its store at the mall and six others in south Florida with the exception of the Town Center store to Dillard's in early 1997. Burdines merged with Macy's in 2003 and simply became Macy's in 2005. On April 12, 2018, Sears announced that they would be closing as part of a plan to close 42 stores nationwide. The store closed on July 15, 2018 and will be redeveloped by Seritage Growth Properties into shops and restaurants on the lower level with GameTime bowling and Powerhouse Gym going on the upper level.
