What's a two-dimensional tree?[edit]

The section Buchholz hydra § Rules starts with

The game is played on a hydra, a finite, rooted, two-dimensional, connected mathematical tree with the following properties...

What does "two-dimensional" mean? (And trees are connected by definition, aren't they? See tree (graph theory), linked from the lead section.) – Tea2min (talk) 10:30, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
