Bucksport name remains only on the locally famous sporting goods store.

[edit]

There is no other visible remains of the town. There are however several houses from the earlier era, but only one aware of the time of construction would know that. Once more, the entirety of what was Bucksport is now ENTIRELY within the City of Eureka as is Humboldt City, which was laid out too close to the Bay. At some point all these obscure references from the USGS must be dealt with. Not even the folks who live where the USGS claims these areas exist would refer to these wide spots in the road by the name given or recorded by the USGS. Approximately half of the listings added recently to Humboldt County unincorporated communities have any relevance besides to the USGS listings. I suppose since it was published somewhere, that does not matter. Interesting how Wikipedia editors who obviously know nothing of a community can junk up a place. Norcalal 02:35, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Bucksport history added

[edit]

I added a wee bit of Bucksport history and information tonight. I agree that a lot of the stubs that were created four years ago are pretty useless, but Bucksport at one time was in the running to be the County Seat of Humboldt County and probably deserves the mention. I am sure I can find more about it over time, probably from the Humboldt Bay article about the Laura Virginia settlers. Ellin Beltz (talk) 05:41, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
