significance[edit]

Budania has no significance in history. However, if it is to be kept as a compilation of some information such as villages inhabited by this tribe it may be retained. However, any reference to history should be clearly admitted as not based upon any evidence which is also clear from the writeup on origin pasted below.

This gotra gets its name after Buria state.[1] Buria is a place in Yamunanagar district of Haryana, founded by Birbal, one of the navratnas of the Mughal Emperor Akhbar. Thakur Deshraj has identified the clan Budia with Greek term Ordabae as mentioned by Megasthenes in his Indica.[2] Local tradition relates Budania gotra to get its name from the epi-person named Budha ji.

The writeup above links Budiania through Budia through Buria and Birbal with Ordabae of Megasthenes - clearly hearsay and fancy.

Thakur Desraj, even if he has written a book, is no independant authority on history since no sources are cited by him.

Using a similar approach, as Thakur Desraj of etymological linking, Ravi Chaudhary had begun a program of erecting some sort of Jat history or aggrandisement if you may which he seems to have abandoned after it faced considerable ridicule. Jatland, a closed community site being used by a small group (which is also active on the Wikipedia) to assume social and political influence over the Jat community, cannot be justifiably cited as a reference for any history content on the Wikipedia.

Budha Ji[edit]

More clarification is needed about what an "epi-person" is. Also, Is "Budha ji" the same as Baba Budha Ji? Jwesley78 (talk) 04:46, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
