Date of death?[edit]

The New York Times says Patty passed away on Monday, which is inconsistant with all other sources that say he passed away on Sunday (October 3). Does the NYT know something the rest of us don’t or is this just the usual timezone crap?...

The Sun also states Patty died Monday. Why is it so difficult for news sources to be consistant?

Not that I know this specifically, but timezones are actually a good bet (possibly augmented by accidentally mistaking the direction the calculation takes...).
