NCORP fail[edit]

Lots of notable people have been associated with this program, but I don't think the program itself is notable. A search finds little independent coverage. I was going to drafitfy this but will wait for another opinion. --- Possibly (talk) 08:12, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I had found the request to create Buffalo Center for Media Study article through WikiProject Visual arts and WikiProject Sculpture > https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Visual_arts/Things_you_can_do I chose the article based on that. However, once I started to research this group I do believe this group/deparment does meet notability requirements because of what they established together: The notable people worked together to create this department/group at a time that there was not any other program like it, and it is currently the oldest and longest standing media arts program in America. Those individuals became notable because of it, and the program/department continues to produce notable artists in New Media to this day. Suggestions, additions, and edits to improve the page are welcome.ArtistWatch MuseumSurvey (talk) 22:16, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ArtistWatch MuseumSurvey: see WP:NOTINHERITED. Organizations (art programs, galleries etc) do not become notable because they have notable members. There is very little written about this program, which is what is needed. Also, please do not copy/paste material to Wikipedia as you did in this article. --- Possibly (talk) 22:19, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, got it.
This department/group was created at a time that there was not any other program like it, and it is currently the oldest and longest standing media arts program in America. It has made notable contributions to the Media Art field and advancing New Media art into what we know it now, which is why I believe it is notable. The program is currently named Department of Media Study at UB.
I am seeing 100s of publications on google books including information on "department of media study" ub when I search that term [1] and older publications under the search terms "Buffalo Center for Media Study"

I asked for help on the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Visual arts talk page, maybe some of their members can help to improve the page as the page creation was initially requested there ArtistWatch MuseumSurvey (talk) 22:28, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ArtistWatch MuseumSurvey: The fact that the program is unique etc does not matter. All that is WP:SIGCOV. I would suggest reading that page. Trivial mentions of the program are not useful, what we need are in-depth articles. There's a book, but I am not sure it is enough.--- Possibly (talk) 23:35, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
