Surveys and Statistics for the police working on the Fort Benning Army Base

[edit]

I have gone through the website looking for evidence of statisics or surveys on the Civilian Law Enforcement there but could find none. Can something be done about this? Another thing is how does an Oversight Committee get appointed there? These things need to happen because of the hiring practices there. I will not have to say a thing or explain anything on these subjects because its all obvious if only someone would look. Even the public and soldiers on this post are asking questions about what is going on. With all the new soldiers and their families due to arrive there soon, I can only hope that they don't begin to fall into the same things many minorities have already fallen into.Tinytee (talk) 19:18, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What sources of data are used by the Bureau of Justice Statistics? Uniform Crime Reports or the National Crime Victimization Survey? The distinction is critical, because the Uniform Crime Reports are influence by people's willingness to report crime while the National Victimization Survey is not (or at least not to the same degree).

The Uniform Crime Reports are influenced by people's perceptions of the likely consequences of reporting, and those could change over time in response various things including shifts in the editorial policies of the media consumed by the public. The latter have changed substantially over the past 40 years, as noted in United States incarceration rate#Editorial Policies of the Major Media.
