Baba Haji Sher Dewan

[edit]

I removed the section on Baba Haji Sher Dewan. Despite the fact that it needed references and cleanup, I feel it went off topic from the article. It may perhaps warrant an article of its own. . . Barkeep Chat | $ 12:45, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed Nishane Haider

[edit]

Moved unrelated biography from Burewala article to below. Barkeep Chat | $ 16:26, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tufail Muhammad (1914 – 7 August 1958) was born in Hoshiarpur, Punjab and commissioned in the 16th Punjab Regiment in 1943. On 7 August 1958, Muhammad, a Company Commander in the East Pakistan Rifles, encircled an Indian post, which allegedly violated the internationally recognized boundary between the two countries, in the Lakshmipur area. Though mortally wounded in the hand-to-hand encounter that followed, Muhammed continued to lead his troops until the Indians were driven out, leaving four dead and three prisoners. He died the same day. Muhammad was posthumously awarded the Nishan-e-Haider, Pakistan's highest military award and is the only person to win the award for an action outside the Indo-Pakistan Wars. Tufail Muhammad Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider tomb is situated in Chak No. 253/EB ‘Tufailabad’ where every year on 6 September on the occasion of "Defense Day" Pakistan Army’s Punjab Regiment pays tribute to the martyred soldier.

Notable citizens

[edit]

I have removed the section on "notable" citizens. As I have stated in my edit summaries, I have questioned the notability of these individuals and have asked for reliable sources verifying their notability per WP:BIO. However, there is one or more users that feel that this should not be removed and should remain within the article, as evident by multiple reverts of this edit in the article.

If you disagree with the removal of this section I would ask that you please state your case as to why you think this section should remain despite a lack of references. Barkeep Chat | $ 13:16, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

can you explain why you remove the section when you have no reliable source of indication that this is not accurate ? Apart from you every one agrees so please stop removing this list unless you have any reliable source to contradict . we live in burewala since 1930 and that is the refrence . —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.204.232.236 (talk) 13:25, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It is not on me to prove that they non-notable. As stated in Wikipedia's policy of verifiability the burden is on you to prove that they are notable. This includes "any material challenged or likely to be challenged," and I have obviously challenged the notability of these individuals. Unfortunately, living in Burewala can not constitute as a reliable reference. Barkeep Chat | $ 13:31, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is not much about this city for reference . all these elected members are enrolled punjab assembly records and i dont feel it necessary to provide you . i will undo each time you remove them lolz so keep it up , yu do your way i do it in my way —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.149.107.79 (talk) 23:35, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
