  • Grabbing this for a review. Aoba47 (talk) 20:15, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Infobox and lead
  • I would add ALT text for the infobox image
  • Just a clarification question, but is Missy Elliot referenced by her birth name (Melissa Elliott) on the songwriting credits and by Missy Elliot on the production credits?
  • I do not think that you need Missy Elliot linked the in the Songwriter(s) and Producer(s) parameters of the template as she is already linked at the top of the template.
  • I do not think you need a link for Der Jointz as he is already linked through Dwayne Abernathy in the Songwriter(s) parameter. Also, another clarification question, is he credited under his real name and stage name in the album notes for the song?
  • I am not sure that the “crisp” quote is needed in the lead. It seems more appropriate to me to keep that for the body of the article, where it can be attributed through a reference.
  • I am not sure if the “club-ready” quote is necessary for the lead. It also does not make complete sense in the context as only one critic used that quote so saying multiple critics “commended the song for being” this way is a little misleading. I would save the quote for the body of the article, where it can be attributed through a reference.
  • For this part ("Burnitup!" also charted in some countries), I do not believe the “also” is necessary so I would remove it. You already use “also” later in the same sentence anyway.
  • I would add to the lead that it was used in the State of the World Tour.
Background and release
  • Please add ALT text to the image
  • I would use Janet Jackson’s full name in the first sentence as it is the first time that you reference her in the body of the article. I would also link her name.
  • I am not certain about the first sentence of the first paragraph, particularly the “with whom she had previously collaborated several times” part. In the reference given, it only mentions their work together on “Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)” so I am not sure what is meant by “several times”. I would either find an additional source to support that claim or revise the sentence to better reflect the reference.
  • The reference for the following sentence (The first was on 1998 remixes of "Go Deep," the second in 2001 on a remix of "Son of a Gun" from All for You (2001), and the last on "The 1" from Discipline (2008).) does not mention their work on either song. Their previous collaborations on both songs is important, but you need to find sources that support that.
  • This part (Jackson responded that it is always great to work with friends, and Elliott was a dear one. It was natural to record a song together for both of them, as they had a great time doing it.) sounds strange to me, particularly the second sentence. When looking at the source, I found that it was a quote so you need to make it clear that this is something that Jackson said (i.e. Add quotation marks around the quote).
Composition
  • I have received notes in the past about the use of non-free media, particularly audio samples. How is this audio sample used to illustrate something that cannot be illustrated through words? I would adjust the caption to better show the way that the sample does this, otherwise it seems to be there purely for decorative purposes and should be removed.
  • Also, the audio sample is not from the song. It is an audio sample from Jackson’s previous single “Rock with U”.
  • Remove the links for Janet Jackson and Missy Elliot as they both were already linked in the previous section. Same goes for Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
  • For this part (rapping "Dis dat jam, now do yo dance”[sic]), I would move the [sic] into the quotation marks.
Critical reception
  • I would reorganize this section completely. Right now, it appears to be two paragraphs of quotes without any real narrative or structure at play. Please reference this resource to see what I mean by organizing reception sections.
  • I would suggest having two paragraphs, with the first being on the response towards the song and the second on the response towards Elliot’s verses/collaboration. That would make the most sense to me.
Chart performance
  • This section does not mention the song’s placement on Japan’s year-end charts.
Live performance
  • Rename the section to “Live performances”
  • Ideally, it would be great to have more information on these performances, such as the response to them. I am sure there were reviews of both tours, and I am sure at least one of them would mention this song.
Credits and personnel
  • Do we know where this song was recorded? I would add that information here if you have it. Otherwise, I understand.
References
  • The words in Reference 27 should not be in all caps.
  • The citation for Reference 28 is incomplete.
Final comments

@11JORN: I can see that a lot of work has been put into it, but there are a few major issues. The main issues are the following: 1) the lack of support for several key pieces of information in the “Background and release” section, 2) the lack of structure in the “Critical reception” section, and 3) the underdeveloped aspects of the “Live performance” section. I will put this on hold for seven days and hopefully, we can work together on this, but this will need some work that goes beyond minor edits to get it into a condition necessary for a GA. Verdict
  • This review has been on hold for a week, and there does not appear to be on feedback. The nominator has a message on their talk page that they are currently busy with school, and they have not been active for a while. I will have to  Fail this. Good luck with getting this promoted in the future. Aoba47 (talk) 01:10, 12 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
