I am BTA-Colin and I was the originator of the Business Transformation Agency article. In the interest of full disclosure, I want to make clear that I am an employee of the BTA. I don't want this to seem as if I'm another government employee who doesn't understand Wikipedia and is trying to do ninja edits of articles to serve the interests of my employer. I'm a BTA employee and if you check my IP address, you'll see I'm posting from a DoD IP address. I don't want that hidden.

I hope that what I have posted is a good start. I understand the Wikipedia standards for NPOV and that this article is subject to editing by anyone else in the community. I plan on staying involved with the article however I will not be trying to control it. Once I posted it, it's not mine anymore. It belongs the the Wikipedia community. My interest here is in accuracy and collaboration with the Wikipedia community. I won't be trying to dominate things: 1) because it's not the right way to behave here and 2) because it wouldn't work anyhow.

I realize the references aren't in the article yet. I will be adding those over the next day or so.

Advertising tag

[edit]

The article has been tagged by an anon for sounding like an advertisement.

I am the originator of this article and it very few edits have been made since the article was first posted.

When the article was first posted, I was a BTA employee and I am still working there. However, I do not seek to control the article. I would love for this to be taken over by the community so it doesn’t seem like self-promotion. There is a conflict of interest here and I’m hoping to mitigate that with disclosure of my association with the BTA, invitation for community adoption of this article and assertion that I do not seek to control this article.

When I originally developed the article, I spent significant time in offline drafts trying to work non-neutral language out of the article. Given that it has gone largely unedited since then, I thought I had succeeded. I tried to follow the language on the article pages of the BTA’s peer agencies in the DoD.

If you have specific language that you think is not neutral here, I welcome your revisions. If you would rather point out that you feel seems like advertising, please point it out and I’ll work with it.

I note that WP:SOAP’s guideline against advertising addresses companies, products, events, causes and public service announcements. I don’t think this article is about any of those. It is about an agency of the largest Department of the US Government. The BTA does not sell a product. They don’t have anything to advertise. My goal in posting and participating with this article is only to make sure that this notable part of the government is honestly represented in Wikipedia.

So, if you concur with the advertising tag, please offer revisions or point out the offending language.

With no other editors offering revision suggestions or specific examples of how this is written like an advertisement, I'm going to remove the advertisement banner at the top. If you object, please respond here so we can discuss it.
