Companies Related to BSM[edit]

I have removed the section Companies Related to BSM as this was purely a directory of companies. Such a list is directly against the guidance of links to avoid and Wikipedia is not a link repository. Please do not replace these links without discussing this change.—Ash (talk) 07:26, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

External link for BSMReview.com[edit]

I would like to add www.bsmreview.com as an external link to this page. The site is an independent resource for people trying to learn more about business service management. If you look at the list of experts on the site at http://www.bsmreview.com/experts.shtml , you will note that we have brought together some of the most respected people in the space covering ITIL, BSM, and business-IT alignment issues from various institutions and organizations. Granted, they've not the most photogenic folks on the planet, but I'm having a hard time understanding how the site was excluded from the list of external links. The WP:GOOGLETEST seems a relevant check. I shall compare with another specialist forum website (TMForum is for telecoms professionals):
The guidance of ELNO and NOTDIRECTORY seem to apply. If BSMReview.com has made significant impact in the field, as supported by independent sources (i.e. not self published, press releases or derivative articles), then it may be appropriate for the organization to be mentioned in the body of the article rather than tacked on the end as an external link. Hi Ash - BSMreview.com is a new site, so is not yet referenced - but the experts who make up the site are. Do you think you could look up some of our experts - people like: John Hagel, John Seely Brown, Sharon Taylor, Bill Keyworth, Richard Ptak, Doug McClure, Ken Turbitt, Peter Armstrong, etc. (see http://www.bsmreview.com/experts.shtml ) before you decide that we aren't worth it? Looking for Wikipedia pages for this list gives three matches (the first 3 on this list, others are false matches): John Hagel, John Seely Brown, Sharon Taylor, Bill Keyworth, Richard Ptak, Doug McClure, Ken Turbitt, Peter Armstrong. None of the biographical articles currently mentions BSMReview.com, though by default the people with Wikipages have evidence for notability. It should be noted that there must be independent sources to ensure a neutral point of view for any additions for links or statements about organizations, it would be more meaningful to point to such independent sources and publications. You may consider adding BSMReview to these biographical pages first if these people are demonstrably active in the organization. Note that biographical pages about living people have some special requirements as per BLP.
Notability is not automatically transferred, the organization itself should be notable. However this may be through published endorsement by notable people, if these exist in reliable sources... If you believe the organization is becoming more notable then it may be better to try again when such reliable sources are more plentiful, otherwise adding links will tend to look like spamming as part of a promotional campaign.—Ash (talk) 08:55, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
