Mellotron?[edit]

I'm pretty sure based on the fact that you can clearly hear the keys being pressed down by Rod's fingers and popping back up that he used a pump organ (a/k/a reed organ or harmonium) on this track, rather than a Mellotron. It sounds like they recorded it with a microphone positioned near the keyboard, where the sound is often the loudest due to the open construction in that area. I don't think anyone would ever use a microphone on a Mellotron, since it has electronic outputs and is not an acoustic instrument. I tried to find confirmation of this in a RS but only found forum posts, although most of them assumed it was indeed a pump organ.
