Notability of Butt Hole Road[edit]

Granted the street has got at least two mentions in sources that would be considered reliable sources, but in passing in one. I can't see that it passes WP:N in terms of "Significant coverage". FlowerpotmaN·(t) 19:06, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I admit to being very puzzled by your comment. Geographical locations are really subject to quite different standards than some random person or some self-published book. Indeed, there are plenty of articles on Wikipedia about "towns" with less than a dozen people living there (see for example, Milltown,_South_Dakota). Here we are talking about a road that has gotten notoriety in the BBC and NY Times, was the inspiration for a book (which also selected it for an entry out of the laughingly large number of rude place names in Britain), and is a tourist attraction of sorts.

Anyway, I removed the tag. The article is well-referenced, so I don't see what further work is required, other than to put in some geographical details and so forth. --C S (talk) 19:35, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why did they pay for the sign?[edit]

"Because the Doncaster Council would only replace a street sign for free if it was damaged or in a state of disrepair, the residents of Butt Hole Road had to raise £300 for a new street sign."

the eponym is not transparent[edit]

... the street was renamed to "Archers Way", named after the 930-year-old Conisbrough Castle ...
