Sourcing

[edit]

I am removing the references to the Idaho High School Activities Association. As the state's appointed overseer of high school athletics, this is not in any way an independent source as defined under WP:V and WP:RS. VanTucky (talk) 00:11, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • One would be hard-pressed to imagine a more reliable or verifiable source than "the state's appointed overseer of high school athletics". There seems to be a rather clear and overwhelming consensus that such sources fully comply with WP:RS and WP:V. Alansohn 02:30, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rivals

[edit]

Do any of the school's rivals use the phrase "Butte Pirates" as a taunt or anything? youngamerican (wtf?) 19:59, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can't have a name like that and not be the butte of a few jokes. 76.90.9.68 (talk) 18:03, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please, we're trying to have a serious discussion here! If you can't say something constructive, please butte out. (talk) 18:03, 01 June 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.249.47.195 (talk) [reply]
Butte he was just trying to help! 75.150.245.242 (talk) 20:24, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I actually think that this has to be intentional. An expression of their own sense of humor. Who didn't want to name their school something demeaning when they were a kid? They're totally land-locked, 546 miles from the nearest ocean, (750 by road). There's no connection between Butte, Montana and pirates that I am aware of, and every reason in the world to name their school anything else. I think that this wordplay - be it intentional or not - deserves mention in the proper article. The Butte Pirates gag is the only thing about this school that makes it noteworthy enough for inclusion in Wikipedia. [edit] Hell, it's in Idaho. evidently I've got the wrong Butte.216.161.250.177 (talk) 09:12, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Boys basketball state title in 1983.

[edit]

The boys team won a State Championship in 1983. Game was in Idaho Falls, I think the opponent was Grace and the head coach was Barry Berg. 107.191.169.162 (talk) 18:33, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
