Pronunciation

[edit]

i would like to know how to pronounce this phrase.

it's "say la v"

Not quite; "C'est" should actually be pronounced like the e sound in "fed" or "head", not like "ay". Bearcat 07:42, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

the correct pronunciation is "Sest Lavvy" with lavvy being pronounced NOT like navy, but like savvy, with the accent (emphasis) on the final syllable. i would know. i'm a native french speaker. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lionside (talkcontribs) 22:14, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"c'est" sounds different depending on the next word, I think? C'est la vie sounds like "say" but ... uh... been a long time since I took french.

"C'est" could also be pronounced "sseh" the quick, short, slangy type of pronunciation, now it may just be me but i believe that the page needs a definition of this phrase...--149.68.7.90 15:36, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone know if this phrase is used in france or just the US? 68.93.133.174 16:32, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup

[edit]

I've cleaned up this page and brought it into line with the style policy and guideline pages, particularly those for disambiguation pages. Most importantly, we do not need to list every single song that includes the phrase "c'est la vie" in its lyrics. Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 00:37, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
