Questionable evidence of two helicopters ever being carried[edit]

I have just started editing as I noticed some pages regarding Canadian Coast Guard helicopters were out of date.

I am an aircraft maintenance engineer who has direct contact with these ships on a regular basis, so I personally witness helicopter operations on a daily basis.

I am somewhat perplexed by the claim that two (2) helicopters could be operated by this ship. The data relating to the carriage of the Bo 105 was out of date, and has been updated, while the omission of the historical use of the Bell 206L has been corrected, but one link (source) for the claim of two helicopters being carried is dead, while my review of the other source "Janes" noted that two types of helicopter could be carried rather than two helicopters.

From my pictures which I have added to the page it is clear that the hangar is very tight for even one helicopter.

No member of the crew who I Avalon Shores (talk) 22:48, 5 April 2021 (UTC)have spoken to has ever heard of a two helicopter capability, any insights or comments would be welcomeAvalon Shores (talk) 22:47, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure where it says that the ship operates two helicopters at the same time, just that it can operate either. By the way, thank you for serving. Furthermore, thank you for the the reliable sources. Do you know if other helicopter capable CCG ships like Griffon are capable of using the new helicopters are are they too big for Griffon? There were a few CCGS pages with incorrect info regarding two helicopters being carried, but I have corrected those entries. I next have to add info on the historical carriage of both the Bell 206B and Bell 206L.

I have just started editing so I have only updated info on two classes of the Coast Guard fleet. I have pictures of the Bell 429 on the Griffon, so I'll post those pictures.

While the Bell 412 has a larger rotor diameter as noted by the aft displaced chock lines on the helicopter decks the Bell 429 Global Ranger is a similarly sized updated derivative of the earlier Bell 206B JetRanger and Bell 206L LongRanger, but has switched from two blade to four bladed main rotor which has actually reduced rotor diameter.

I hope to post info on the operational roles/use of helicopters focusing on ice reconnaissance, but I am very new and inexperienced with editing, so I find the process a challenge.

My next challenge is to update the pages for Canada's aircraft carriers Nabob, Puncher, Warrior, Magnificent and Bonaventure.

Remember though, use reliable secondary sources like you did with the CCG ships. Photos don't cut the mustard here. I've seen it happen where people get reverted for using photos as a citation for their claims. I don't want you to put in the effort of uploading those photos and editing the articles, but in the end, wasting your time. Good editing! Llammakey (talk) 11:21, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
