Wikipedia is not a crystal ball[edit]

Per WP:NOTCRYSTAL, "Wikipedia is not a collection of unverifiable speculation." Speculation about what might happen to the programs that CP24 shares with City-TV not that the former is owned by CTV does not belong here. An encyclopedia article must report what we know, not what we don't know and what we think might logically happen. Ground Zero | t 00:42, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Screen Size[edit]

I'm confused about the last edit by User:Musimax on the page. I corrected the size of the broadcast screen segment down from about two-thirds to about half the screen. Musimax then changed it back stating "not true, its less than half" while changing it back to two-third for the program screen. I'm not sure if they meant to change it back to two thirds or not.

Anyway, the program broadcast screen is significant less than half the screen, somewhere between a quarter and a third of the total screen size, as shown by this photo of the screen (note photo isn't a Wikipedia photo, and isn't being used for inclusion in the article, but simply to illustrate.) While I don't have CP24 myself, CP24 videos have appeared on YouTube. Example From what I've seen, the graphics take up slightly more than a half of the screen. About 3/5ths of the screen. єmarsee (Discuss) 00:35, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just for fun, I took a print screen of that video, pasted the screenshot onto Photoshop, then determined the dimensions of the whole screen and the program broadcast screen (anchor window). The whole screen was 480x360 pixels (or 4:3 obviously), while the anchor window was roughly 283x229 pixels. Hence, the area of the anchor window is about 37.5% (roughly 3/8) of the whole screen, or about 2/5 if you round it up. So the peripheral graphics do take up about 3/5 (or closer to 5/8) of the screen. What actually appears within the safe area isn't considered here. - Hinto (talk) 21:34, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article name[edit]

Seeing as CP24 hasn't used the "CablePulse 24" name on air for a while, and anecdotally no one I know (not counting media geeks like myself) actually knows what the "CP" stands for, what's holding us back from moving the article to "CP24"? Is it because it's still legally licensed as "CablePulse 24"? - Hinto (talk) 22:11, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can find no references on their site to them still using the name CablePulse. Every reference is to CP. It seems it's now officially called just CP24. Canterbury Tail talk 22:34, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
On the CRTC's Website it appears that the "CablePulse 24" name is still used on official documents - in it's 2008 Broadcast decision regarding the new 24 hour Citytv application CP24 is still referred to in long form [1] --Eja2k (talk) 22:22, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As much as I wanted to see The Sports Network moved to "TSN (TV channel)", they wouldn't allow that because there were already titles sharing that abbreviation. Yet, here, there isn't. This wouldn't be a bad idea. ViperSnake151  Talk  17:42, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Launch date[edit]

I distinctly remember CP24 being on the air by the end of January 1998.

CablePulse 24CP24 – CP24 is used everywhere by it's owner Bell Media to identify this channel:(on-air, website, promos, cellphone app, etc.) except in the CRTC's database. In respect with the wiki pages for British Broadcasting Corporation, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Independent Television, where the most common used name is used.
