This table is almost idential to the one in the larger politics of the Netherlands sections; this may cause confusions and differences in editing. I would suggest to merge this into the larger article in the section cabinets sincs WWII Arnoutf 13:44, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree, the pages should not be merged instead this page should be expanded to include more historic cabinets, and more information about the composition of the cabinet, both in terms of parties and in terms of departements. A way to solve the confusions and difference is to create an infobox, like there is for the last election (see Template:Netherlands general election, 2003) and include that figure on both pages. -- C mon 23:21, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling Cabinets[edit]

Currently, all articles about Dutch Cabinets (except Kok and Balkenende cabinets; those articles are older) are named in the same way: "Netherlands cabinet <name>-<number>". I was wondering if that hyphen between the name and the number is the correct English spelling, or whether there should be no hyphen at all. I'm asking because it's a common mistake in Dutch to put a hyphen there (in Dutch it should be between cabinet and <name>, but that might be wrong in English too). ministers without portfolio[edit]

I would like to point out that an update may be needed in the near future, with regards to the ministers without portfolio, since a new type of minister will be introduced in the Balkenende IV cabinet, "program ministers". They will at first sight appear to have the same position as ministers without portfolio (they will be ministers FOR instead of OF). However, they will assume actual control of divisions within the ministry and have their own budget, which makes them according the common definition ministers WITH portfolio.--Dengo 10:56, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is no major changes in respect to the current situation. FI the minister of International Development has and always had her own staff and budget. Constitutionally they will still be ministers without portfolio. C mon 11:35, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

state secretaries[edit]

I dislike translating "staatssecretaris" with anything else then "state secretary", because that's what it means. Changing it to "deputy minister" would 1) be US centric, 2) would be inaccurate, because staatssecretarissen are not deputy ministers, because they are not the "second in command" of ministry. State Secretary leads to confusion wherever it is used. Most people associate the term State Secretary with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USA. If deputy minister is not suited, perhaps junior minister is? Er rab ee 00:00, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Composition of the cabinet[edit]

Could someone clarify whether the formateur must choose cabinet ministers from the house of representatives? The article is not clear on this point. If not, how are they chosen?
