Matriarcal society?
[edit]I wonder whether the legends of the birth of Caeculus and of Romulus and Remus are a hint to a matriarcal organisation of early Latin and IE society. In both cases we have a mother that gives birth after being impregnated by a god. The children are reared by sisters or equivalent figures. In both legends two uncles play an important role. These are all featuers typical matriarcal organisation where children are brought with the family of the mother by uncles as male figures.Aldrasto (talk) 06:01, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
