Photograph

Shouldn't the photograph be removed, as the men depicted were certainly not those killed by the IRA that day? (92.11.205.199 (talk) 10:12, 24 December 2013 (UTC))

If the photo is often wrongly supposed to be of the Cairo Gang, then leaving it up with an explanatory caption is useful - the internet is good for debunking popular myths. It is disputed (e.g. by Henry Wilson's biographer Keith Jeffery) that the Cairo Gang even existed. Much of what is "known" of this and other score-settling armed gangs (on all sides of the conflict) is little more than hearsay.Paulturtle (talk) 15:09, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
Neither the Cairo or Igoe gangs were ever photographed, and certainly not together, due to the risk of assassination that had existed since the Anglo-Irish War began. While it is nice to have a picture for the article, the men depicted were certainly not undercover agents. (92.11.199.162 (talk) 19:09, 5 January 2014 (UTC))
